CODA: Summer Cello Intensive
June 17th - 21st
EVSI Studio (San Tan Valley)
Registration is due June 7th
Some of my favorite cello memories growing up took place in the summertime. There was no school, no homework due, no auditions to prepare for; only cello!
Each summer, I was able to explore cello in ways that weren’t possible during the school year. My friends and I would get together and have “practice parties,” I had MORE time to play, and I got to meet new friends at chamber music camp.

That’s why I created...

CODA: A Summer Cello Intensive is a camp designed specifically for high school cello players (rising 10th - 12th graders) eager to deepen their understanding and mastery of the cello.
Set in a supportive environment, this camp offers a unique blend of rigorous instruction, fun, and community-building activities.
Participants have the opportunity to learn from a seasoned cellist, participate in an ensemble, learn solo repertoire, and engage in workshops that cover a wide range of topics from technique refinement to musical expression.
Registration is due June 7th.

This immersive experience not only enhances the students' technical skills and musicality but also fosters a sense of community and inspiration among developing artists.
CODA is for those looking to expand their cello knowledge and connect with peers who share the same passion for music this summer.

What makes CODA different?
Fun
While we’re serious about music, we also believe in the importance of fun! Every day, students will participate in various cello activities to help boost creativity and explore cello in a new way. From cello improvisation games to start our day to having a cello story time contest, students will continue to stretch their abilities in fun and engaging activities!

Community
At CODA, students don’t just come to learn; they come to be part of a cello community. Students will build lasting friendships with fellow cellists, share experiences, and support each other’s growth. By the end of the week, students will learn a piece of solo cello repertoire together, several cello ensemble pieces, and demystify three octave scales . That’s a lot of music in only one week! Remember: it’s cello PRACTICE, not cello PERFECT!
Cello Ensemble
You already play in the school orchestra, and maybe some solo music, but have you ever played in an all cello ensemble? Students will have the unique experience playing in an ensemble that consists of only cello players! Repertoire may include pieces by Beethoven, The Beatles, and even Led Zeppelin!

Expert Guidance

At the core of CODA is our commitment to providing each student with personalized, high-quality instruction. The lead instructor is not just a teacher, but a mentor who strives to understand and support each student’s unique musical journey. With a focus on individual goals and aspirations, we ensure that every student receives the guidance they need to thrive, pushing the boundaries of their abilities, and achieving new levels of excellence.
Comprehensive Curriculum
You will experience everything from learning a solo and technique to cello ensemble pieces, offering you a well-rounded experience that furthers your musical knowledge.

Q: What is a practice party?
A: A practice party is when students get together and practice! Practice parties are similar to college practice rooms where several people are practicing in the same location at the same time.
